Exuud designs connected fragrance devices and the apps that control them. This page explains how to report a security issue to us, what we do when we receive a report, and how long each of our products will receive security updates.

Report a security issue

If you think you have found a security issue in an Exuud device, its firmware, a companion app, or an Exuud online service, please tell us.

It helps us if your report includes:

The product name and model number (printed on the label under the device), and the app name and version if relevant
A description of the issue and what someone could do with it
The steps needed to reproduce it
Any screenshots, logs or other supporting information

You do not need to give us any personal information other than an email address we can reply to. Reports in English are preferred.

This address is only for security issues. For help using your device, cartridges, orders or warranty, please contact the customer care team of the brand you purchased from.

What happens after you report

Acknowledgement: we will confirm that we received your report within 5 working days.
Status updates: we will update you on our progress at least every 30 days until the issue is resolved.
Resolution: we will tell you when a fix or other remedy is available.

We ask that you do not share details of the issue publicly until we have had a reasonable opportunity to fix it and make the update available to our customers. We are happy to coordinate the timing of any public disclosure with you.

How we protect our products

No universal default passwords. Our products do not use default passwords that are the same across devices.
Free security updates. We provide security updates free of charge for each product until the end of its support period, listed below.
Update delivery. Updates are delivered through the product's companion app. The app tells you when an update is available.
Support periods are only ever extended. If we extend a product's support period, we will update this page. We will not shorten a support period once it has been published.

What a support period means

The support period is the minimum time during which we will provide security updates for a product's device firmware and its companion app. After the support period ends, the product will continue to work, but we may no longer release security updates for it.

Fragrance Diffuser, Model 01

Model numbers: 01-A001-EX and the family models listed below. All models use the same hardware and firmware.
Software covered: Device firmware and the Exuud app (Apple App Store and Google Play)
Connection: Bluetooth Low Energy to the companion app on your phone
Pairing: Pairing a phone requires a confirmation step on the device itself
How updates are installed: Through the companion app over Bluetooth. Once updated, the firmware cannot be rolled back to an earlier version.
